Seal Colony Sighted with Dolphin Wild Cruises

My family are very happy, return customers of Dolphin Wild Cruises: the friendly and knowledgeable eco tour experts in Jervis Bay NSW Australia. Their office is conveniently located in the popular tourist town of Huskisson: the gateway to Jervis Bay, and a very easy drive from either Sydney or Canberra.

Every time we go out with Dolphin Wild Cruises, there are new experiences the crew treats us too: whether dolphin or whale watching; observing other wildlife in their natural habitat; landing on white and pristine beaches; exploring the Bay’s stunning landscape; or swimming and snorkelling in the clear, clean waters.

This morning’s eco tour was a delight for young and old as usual: today we visited a seal colony!

We chose to go out on a dawn patrol, watching a glorious sunrise. At 6:40 am, we approached the “Drum and Drumsticks” island formation. Today I learned that this is the natural home to a colony of native Australian fur seals. About 30 seals were resting and socialising on the island when our vessel approached.

“When you’re getting ready for work this Monday,” said our friendly skipper, Brendan, “Remember that this is what’s happening at the same time. Now that will make you smile!”

A photographer’s dream, the seals were easy to photograph because they rested on the island for quite some time. Then we watched them, one by one, as they gradually made their way along the rocky surface, and dove into the water for a playful swim.

“I’d love to stay out here all day!” announced 9-year-old Sebastian. His sister wholeheartedly agreed. This was their first cruise with Dolphin Wild Cruises.

“It won’t be our last cruise with Dolphin Wild!” their father said. “We look forward to coming again."

So do I!
